GARNACHA SANGRIA

Sangria - 5

I’m not sure what I like more about sangria, drinking it or picking out all the wine-soaked fruit pieces and eating them. Try making this sangria with a bottle of garnacha, a Spanish wine, whose fruity flavors complement the sangria well.

RECIPE
Sangria - 3makes 1 pitcher

1 bottle red wine (garnacha)
1 orange, sliced into thin circles
1 handful of grapes, quatered
4-5 strawberries, cut into small pieces
1 apple, cut into small cubes
1 cinnamon stick
2 whole cloves
1/4 c agave syrup or sugar (optional)
1 c sparkling water (like Pellegrino) or club soda

1. Line the bottom of a pitcher with sliced oranges. This way it’ll look cool when you instagram it later.
2. Add in the apple pieces, strawberries, grapes, cinnamon stick, and cloves.
3. Pour in the wine.
4. Cover and refrigerate (preferably overnight or at least a few hours). I know you want to drink it now, but you have to give it time. The fruit needs to soak up the wine and the flavors need to intermingle. Plus, I don’t know about you, but I like it chilled.
5. Top off with the sparkling water and give it a stir.
6. Serve on a shaded patio on a warm day with a bunch of friends and loud music. Hopefully, you made a double or triple batch…

Don’t always be a recipe conformist. Experiment with different fruits, like blueberries or watermelon, and tell me how it goes! Just don’t go adding bananas to it. That’d be gross.
